Metal Gear Solid Ninja TributeJanuary 27th, 2009

Metal Gear Solid Ninja Tribute

Seventhfury released a new illustration yesterday that is to die for, aptly named “Metal Gear Solid Ninja Tribute.” Anyone who knows me, knows my slight obsession with Metal Gear. His new piece features the Ninja doing a little cleanup work with the guards. Simply, awesome. Also note the new “MJ 09″ mark in the lower left corner, exquisite!

Wait, wait, Metal Gear?November 4th, 2008

There comes a time in a mans life when he acquires that one precious part of his soul that was missing for as long as he could remember… This lustrous, voluptuous, surgically assembled, technological deity has arrived! I finally got myself an iPhone!

Naturally, I’ve begun tearing the device to pieces to modify it. I suppose that modifying something that is nearly “perfect” is contradictory to my above ramblings but as any designer will attest to, you can’t have exactly what everyone else has. It has to be personal, reflect the style of the wielder.

First thing was to get some Metal Gear Solid sounds loaded. I used to have a nice set of the codec sounds recorded off Metal Gear Solid 2 on the PS2, but for some reason they got deleted somewhere along the way. I decided to play through the game again and start getting some recordings but they were not up to my standards for quality this time. I turned to the uncompressed dat files on the PC version. Using various methods, I was able to extract every sound in the game. This includes the reverb as well, which I was happy to find. I used to use the codec sounds for AIM for years, so I’m pretty sick of them. I decided to mix it up a bit.

Here’s a little video of my progress so far. Nothing too fancy.

Portal Wallpaper – There you are…September 19th, 2008

I’m continuing my Portal theme with a new wallpaper today that I finally got some time to complete. The render is of the ever watching camera of GLaDOS, the infamously insane Aperture Science computer. I modeled a higher poly model to make it appear as realistic as possible. I don’t know about you, but that red glow is a little creepy!

Aperture Laboratories WallpaperSeptember 18th, 2008

A new wallpaper today, inspired from the game Portal. Towards the end of the game you get a look at some of the computer screens that have the Aperture labs logo on them. The great thing is they have some slight phasing happening as well.

I thought this would make an awesome wallpaper. But I wanted to be as precise as possible. The phasing was PVR captured off my flat panel TV. I just ran an audio signal through the composite port on the TV and got some really clean digitized phasing to use in this wallpaper.

Tick, tock. Tick, tock.August 5th, 2008

I nearly fell off my chair when I saw the news. Chrono Trigger will be released this winter on the Nintendo DS! I am really looking forward to playing though it again. This is one of the games I still own the original cartridge for, and cherish.

Japanese reports say the game will remain in it’s 2D form as played on the original 1995 Super Nintendo version, unlike the recent Final Fantasy remakes that were done in 3D. It will have additional enhancements as well. The game will reportedly make use of both screens and the touch capabilities. For game play, there is a new area not in the previous version and an added multiplayer mode as well.

Are you ok? Ok. Sit back up, get a glass of water and check out the trailer. Memories…

I wonder if it will contain the animated cut scenes from the 1999 Playstation remake that was only released in Japan? Ok Square! Let’s see a port of The Secret of Mana now! Please?
